MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive returns!
We are always looking for ways to make biking on a car-free Lake Shore Drive even more fun! Here is what’s new in 2010.
Helmet rental
Bike and Roll Chicago, the official bicycle rental company for MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive, is offering participants discounts on bike rentals. Rentals include a bike, helmet, lock and riding map. Helmets – which are required for the event – are also available for rental or for purchase. Find details here.
Getting your packet has never been more convenient!
Choose one of these many options so you can have everything you need for the big day.
- Premium We can mail you your packet, including your 2010 MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive T-shirt, for only $3.75
- Standard We can mail you your packet, with a voucher for your event T-shirt, for just $.75
- Self Pickup Stop by any of the packet pickup locations in the weeks leading up to Bike the Drive for free. Pickup time and locations are coming soon. We plan to have even more convenient locations this year.
Route checkpoints
We want to make sure that the MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive is attended by paying participants only. The registration fee pays for the supplies and cost of the event, which is our largest fundraiser. We will ask participants to show their rider numbers and wristbands at checkpoints along the route. Any non-paying participants will be escorted off Lake Shore Drive and given the opportunity to register on-site. Thank you for your patience!

Twist and shout at the post-ride festival
American English returns by popular demand! This Beatles tribute band was a hit at 2008’s event and we are ready for them again. Stop by the post-ride festival for some breakfast, music and giveaways.

Get your one-of-a-kind 2010 MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive jersey and other bicycling clothing here. All proceeds benefit the Active Transportation Alliance. You can also register your rider number and get notified once photos are posted.
Tandem pilots and other accommodations
We want to make sure anyone and everyone can enjoy hours of a car-free Lake Shore Drive. If you are visually impaired and are considering bringing along another person to pilot a tandem bicycle, let them know that they do not need to register. Tandem pilots should contact Rebekah Broussard at 312.427.3325 x 225 or rebekah@activetrans.org. Contact us if you are interested in making any other specific arrangements that will help get you on your way to a car-free bike ride!
Randolph Street Market Festival
After Biking the Drive, pedal on over to the West Loop and experience the annual Garden Party at the Randolph Street Market Festival – free entrance with your MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive registration! This world-renowned retro-spectacle features live music, fancy and fun food and beverages, and the best-salvaged treasures, art, furnishings, fashion and even retooled vintage Schwinn bicycles! 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. 1340 W. Randolph at Ada Street. There will be plenty of space to lock your bike. Don’t worry about balancing that new lawn chair on the back of your bike because home delivery service is available for any purchases you make.

Snazzy Ride Competition
Put together a team of 10-25 adults and enter our contest to win free 2011 MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive registrations for the entire team! The MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive Snazzy Ride contest wants to see what kind of themes, costumes and creative ideas you can bring onto a car-free Lake Shore Drive. Click here to register now!
